(not sure of the side effects but subtitles look good now)

pl : - are you sure the other "i386"-only checks are ok?
- X libraries get included (-lX11 etc) when I say --disable-x11, pls check
Besides that, now it compiles static binary (with all my --disable-blah
switches)
