There's no more reason for keepin the code and definitions in conn_stream,
let's move all that to stconn. The alphabetical ordering of include files
was adjusted.
This file contains all the stream-connector functions that are specific
to application layers of type stream. So let's name it accordingly so
that it's easier to figure what's located there.
The alphabetical ordering of include files was preserved.
The following functions which act on a connection-based stream connector
were renamed to sc_conn_* (~60 places):

The given size must be the size of the destination buffer, not the size of the
(binary) address representation.
This fixes GitHub issue #1599.
The bug was introduced in 92149f9a82 which is in
2.4+. The fix must be backported there.
If QUIC support is enabled both branches of the ternary conditional are
identical, upsetting Coverity. Move the full conditional into the non-QUIC
preprocessor branch to make the code more clear.
This resolves GitHub issue #1710.
Just trying "quic4@:4433" with USE_QUIC not set rsults in such a cryptic
error:

Still not very pretty but gives a little bit more info.
The error message when mixing stream and dgram protocols in an
address speaks about sockets while it ought to speak about addresses,
let's fix this as in some contexts it can be a bit confusing.
cs_conn_io_cb(), cs_conn_sync_recv() and cs_conn_sync_send() are moved in
conn_stream.c. Associated functions are moved too (cs_notify, cs_conn_read0,
cs_conn_recv, cs_conn_send and cs_conn_process).
When trying to sort sets of strings, it's often needed to required to
compare 3 strings to see if the chosen one fits well between the two
others. That's what this function does, in addition to being able to
ignore extremities when they're NULL (typically for the first iteration
for example).
url2sa() still have an unfortunate case where it reads 1 byte too far,
it happens when no port or path are specified in the URL, and could
crash if the byte after the URL is not allocated (mostly with ASAN).
This case is never triggered in old versions of haproxy because url2sa
is used with buffers which are way bigger than the URL. It is only
triggered with the httpclient.
Should be bacported in every stable branches.
Fix 8a91374 ("BUG/MINOR: tools: url2sa reads ipv4 too far") introduced a
regression in the value returned when parsing an ipv4 host.
Tthe consumed length is supposed to be as far as the first character of
the path, only its not computed correctly anymore and return the length
minus the size of the scheme.
Fixed the issue by reverting 'curr' and 'url' as they were before the
patch.
Must be backported in every stable branch where the 8a91374 patch was
backported.
kFreeBSD needs to be treated as a distinct target from FreeBSD
since the underlying system libc is the GNU one. Thus, relying
only on __GLIBC__ no longer suffice.
- freebsd-glibc new target, key difference is including crypt.h
and linking to libdl like linux.
- cpu affinity available but the api is still the FreeBSD's.
- enabling auxiliary data access only for Linux.

The url2sa implementation is inconsitent when parsing an IPv4, indeed
url2sa() takes a <ulen> as a parameter where the call to url2ipv4() takes
a null terminated string. Which means url2ipv4 could try to read more
that it is supposed to.
This function is only used from a buffer so it never reach a unallocated
space. It can only cause an issue when used from the httpclient which
uses it with an ist.
This patch fixes the issue by copying everything in the trash and
null-terminated it.
Must be backported in all supported version.
dladdr1() is used on glibc and takes a void**, but we pass it a
const ElfW(Sym)** and some compilers complain that we're aliasing.
Let's just set a may_alias attribute on the local variable to
address this. There's no need to backport this unless warnings are
reported on older distros or uncommon compilers.
Many times core dumps reported by users who experience trouble are
difficult to exploit due to missing system libraries. Sometimes,
having just a list of loaded libraries and their respective addresses
can already provide some hints about some problems.
This patch makes a step in that direction by adding a new "show libs"
command that will try to enumerate the list of object files that are
loaded in memory, relying on the dynamic linker for this. It may also
be used to detect that some foreign code embarks other undesired libs
(e.g. some external Lua modules).
At the moment it's only supported on glibc when USE_DL is set, but it's
implemented in a way that ought to make it reasonably easy to be extended
to other platforms.
Sometimes it is really useful to be able to specify a default value for
an optional environment variable, like the ${name-value} construct in
shell. In fact we're really missing this for a number of settings in
reg tests, starting with timeouts.
This commit simply adds support for the common syntax above. Other
common forms like '+' to replace existing variables, or ':-' and ':+'
to act on empty variables, were not implemented at this stage, as they
are less commonly needed.
Instead of using sock_type and ctrl_type to select a protocol, let's
make use of the new protocol type. For now they always match so there
is no change. This is applied to address parsing and to socket retrieval
from older processes.
This new ssllib_name_startswith precondition check can be used to
distinguish application linked with OpenSSL from the ones linked with
other SSL libraries (LibreSSL or BoringSSL namely). This check takes a
string as input and returns 1 when the SSL library's name starts with
the given string. It is based on the OpenSSL_version function which
returns the same output as the "openssl version" command.
The condition should first check whether `bsize` is reached, before
dereferencing the offset. Even if this always works fine, due to the
string being null-terminated, this certainly looks odd.
Found using GitHub's CodeQL scan.
This bug traces back to at least 97c2ae13bc
(1.7.0+) and this patch should be backported accordingly.
Implements a way of checking the running openssl version:
If the OpenSSL support was not compiled within HAProxy it will returns a
error, so it's recommanded to do a SSL feature check before:

This will allow to select the SSL reg-tests more carefully.
ha_random64() uses a DWCAS loop to produce the random, but it computes
the resulting value inside the loop while it doesn't change upon success,
so this is a needless overhead inside the critcal path that participates
to making threads fail the race and try again. Let's take the value out
of the loop.
We already had ultoa_r() and friends but nothing to emit inline floats.
This is now done with ftoa_r() and F2A/F2H. Note that the latter both use
the itoa_str[] as temporary storage and that the HTML format currently is
the exact same as the ASCII one. The trailing zeroes are always timmed so
these outputs are usable in user-visible output.
When using "%f" to print a float, it automatically gets 6 digits after
the decimal point and there's no way to automatically adjust to the
required ones by dropping trailing zeroes. This function does exactly
this and automatically drops the decimal point if all digits after it
were zeroes. This will make numbers more friendly in stats and makes
outputs shorter (e.g. JSON where everything is just a "number").
The function is designed to be easy to use with snprint() and chunks:

The new pseudo-variables ".FILE", ".LINE" and ".SECTION" will be resolved
on the fly by the config parser and will respectively retrieve the current
configuration file name, the current line number and the current section
being parsed. This may help emit logs, errors, and debugging information
(e.g. which rule matched).
The '.' in the first char was reserved for such pseudo-variables and no
other variable is permitted. This will allow to add support for new ones
in the future if they prove to be useful (e.g. randoms/uuid for secret
keying or automatic naming of configuration objects).
get_sym_curr_addr() will return the address of the first occurrence of
the given symbol while get_sym_next_addr() will return the address of
the next occurrence of the symbol. These ones return NULL on non-linux,
non-ELF, non-USE_DL.
The current "ADD" vs "ADDQ" is confusing because when thinking in terms
of appending at the end of a list, "ADD" naturally comes to mind, but
here it does the opposite, it inserts. Several times already it's been
incorrectly used where ADDQ was expected, the latest of which was a
fortunate accident explained in 6fa922562 ("CLEANUP: stream: explain
why we queue the stream at the head of the server list").
Let's use more explicit (but slightly longer) names now:
LIST_ADD -> LIST_INSERT
LIST_ADDQ -> LIST_APPEND
LIST_ADDED -> LIST_INLIST
LIST_DEL -> LIST_DELETE
The same is true for MT_LISTs, including their "TRY" variant.
LIST_DEL_INIT keeps its short name to encourage to use it instead of the
lazier LIST_DELETE which is often less safe.
The change is large (~674 non-comment entries) but is mechanical enough
to remain safe. No permutation was performed, so any out-of-tree code
can easily map older names to new ones.
The list doc was updated.
The regression was introduced by commit previous commit 94aab06:
MEDIUM: log: support tcp or stream addresses on log lines.
This previous patch tries to retrieve the used protocol parsing
the address using the str2sa_range function but forgets that
the raw file descriptor adresses don't specify a protocol
and str2sa_range probes an error.
This patch re-work the str2sa_range function to stop
probing error if an authorized RAW_FD address is parsed
whereas the caller request also a protocol.
It also modify the code of parse_logsrv to switch on stream
logservers only if a protocol was detected.
Since the internal function str2sa_range is used to addresses
for different objects ('server', 'bind' but also 'log' or
'nameserver') we notice that some combinations are missing.
"ip@" is introduced to authorize the prefix "dgram+ip@" or
"stream+ip@" which dectects automatically IP version but
specify dgram or stream.
"tcp@" was introduced and is an alias for "stream+ip@".
"tcp6" and "tcp4" are now aliases for "stream+ipv6@" and
"stream+ipv4@".
"uxst@" and "uxdg@" are now aliases for "stream+unix@" and
"dgram+unix@".
This patch also adds a complete section in documentation to
describe adresses and their prefixes.
Commit c20ad0d8db (BUG/MINOR: tools: make
parse_time_err() more strict on the timer validity) broke parsing the "us"
unit in timers. It caused `parse_time_err()` to return the string "s",
which indicates an error.
Now if the "u" is followed by an "s" we properly continue processing the
time instead of immediately failing.
This fixes#1209. It must be backported to all stable versions.
The function's return value is currently used as a boolean but we'll
need it to return the number of bytes parsed. Right now it returns
it minus one, unless the last char doesn't match what is permitted.
Let's update this to make it more usable.
Previous commit 69ba35146 ("MINOR: tools: introduce new option
PA_O_DEFAULT_DGRAM on str2sa_range.") managed to introduce a
parenthesis imbalance that broke the build. No backport is needed.
str2sa_range function options PA_O_DGRAM and PA_O_STREAM are used to
define the supported address types but also to set the default type
if it is not explicit. If the used address support both STREAM and DGRAM,
the default was always set to STREAM.
This patch introduce a new option PA_O_DEFAULT_DGRAM to force the
default to DGRAM type if it is not explicit in the address field
and both STREAM and DGRAM are supported. If only DGRAM or only STREAM
is supported, it continues to be considered as the default.
While sums of squares usually give excellent results in fixed-sise
patterns, they don't work well to compare different sized ones such
as when some sub-words are missing, because a word such as "server"
contains "er" twice, which will rsult in an extra distance of at
least 4 for just this e->r transition compared to another one missing
it. This is one of the main reasons why "show conn" only proposes
"show info" on the CLI. Maybe an improved approach consisting in
using squares only for exact same lengths would work, but it would
still make it difficult to spot reversed characters.
The distance between two words can be high due to a sub-word being missing
and in this case it happens that other totally unrealted words are proposed
because their average score looks lower thanks to being shorter. Here we're
introducing the notion of presence of each character so that word sequences
that contain existing sub-words are favored against the shorter ones having
nothing in common. In addition we do not distinguish being/end from a
regular delimitor anymore. That made it harder to spot inverted words.
Instead of making a new one from scratch, let's support not wiping the
existing fingerprint and updating it, and to do the same char by char.
The word-by-word one will still result in multiple beginnings and ends,
but that will accurately translate word boundaries. The char-based one
has more flexibility and requires that the caller maintains the previous
char to indicate the transition, which also allows to insert delimiters
for example.
This introduces two functions, one which creates a fingerprint of a word,
and one which computes a distance between two words fingerprints. The
fingerprint is made by counting the transitions between one character and
another one. Here we consider the 26 alphabetic letters regardless of
their case, then any digit as a digit, and anything else as "other". We
also consider the first and last locations as transitions from begin to
first char, and last char to end. The distance is simply the sum of the
squares of the differences between two fingerprints. This way, doubling/
missing a letter has the same cost, however some repeated transitions
such as "e"->"r" like in "server" are very unlikely to match against
situations where they do not exist. This is a naive approach but it seems
to work sufficiently well for now. It may be refined in the future if
needed.
We frequently need to access a simple and fast PRNG for statistical
purposes. The debug_prng() function did exactly this using a xorshift
generator but its use was limited to debug only. Let's move this to
tools.h and tools.c to make it accessible everywhere. Since it needs to
be fast, its state is thread-local. An initialization function starts a
different initial value for each thread for better distribution.
This makes the code more readable and less prone to copy-paste errors.
In addition, it allows to place some __builtin_constant_p() predicates
to trigger a link-time error in case the compiler knows that the freed
area is constant. It will also produce compile-time error if trying to
free something that is not a regular pointer (e.g. a function).
The DEBUG_MEM_STATS macro now also defines an instance for ha_free()
so that all these calls can be checked.
178 occurrences were converted. The vast majority of them were handled
by the following Coccinelle script, some slightly refined to better deal
with "&*x" or with long lines:

It was verified that the resulting code is the same, more or less a
handful of cases where the compiler optimized slightly differently
the temporary variable that holds the copy of the pointer.
A non-negligible amount of {free(str);str=NULL;str_len=0;} are still
present in the config part (mostly header names in proxies). These
ones should also be cleaned for the same reasons, and probably be
turned into ist strings.
ipcmp2net() function may be used to compare an addres (struct
sockaddr_storage) to a network address (struct net_addr). Among other
things, this function will be used to add support of IPv6 for "except"
parameter of "forwardfor" and "originalto" options.
This patch splits current dns.c into two files:
The first dns.c contains code related to DNS message exchange over UDP
and in future other TCP. We try to remove depencies to resolving
to make it usable by other stuff as DNS load balancing.
The new resolvers.c inherit of the code specific to the actual
resolvers.

It was really difficult to obtain a clean diff dur to the amount
of moved code.

Counters and stuff related to stats is not cleany separated because
currently counters for both layers are merged and hard to separate
for now.
When an invalid character is found during parsing in parse_dotted_uints()
function, the allocated array of uint must be released. This patch fixes a
memory leak on error path during the configuration parsing.
This patch should fix the issue #1106. It should be backported as far as
2.0. Note that, for 2.1 and 2.0, the function is in src/standard.c
When reporting some values in debugging output we often need to have
some condensed, stable-length values. This function prints a duration
from nanosecond to years with at least 4 digits of accuracy using the
most suitable unit, always on 7 chars.
When 0c439d895 ("BUILD: tools: make resolve_sym_name() return a const")
was written, the pointer argument ought to have been turned to const for
more flexibility. Let's do it now.
This allows using the address of the server rather than the name of the
server for keeping track of servers in a backend for stickiness.
The peers code was also extended to support feeding the dictionary using
this key instead of the name.

conn_fd_handler() is 100% specific to socket code. It's about time
it moves to sock.c which manipulates socket FDs. With it comes
conn_fd_check() which tests for the socket's readiness. The ugly
connection status check at the end of the iocb was moved to an inlined
function in connection.h so that if we need it for other socket layers
it's not too hard to reuse.
The code was really only moved and not changed at all.
parse_size_err() function is now more strict on the size format. The first
character must be a digit. Otherwise an error is returned. Thus "size k" is
now rejected.
This patch must be backported to all stable versions.
First, an error is now reported if the first character is not a digit. Thus,
"timeout client s" triggers an error now. Then 'u' is also rejected
now. 'us' is valid and should be used set the timer in microseconds. However
'u' alone is not a valid unit. It was just ignored before (default to
milliseconds). Now, it is an error. Finally, a warning is reported if the
end of the text is not reached after the timer parsing. This warning will
probably be switched to an error in a futur version.
This patch must be backported to all stable versions.
Previous commit fa41cb679 ("MINOR: tools: support for word expansion
of environment in parse_line") introduced two new isspace() on a char
and broke the build on systems using an array disguised in a macro
instead of a function (like cygwin). Just use the usual cast.
Allow the syntax "${...[*]}" to expand an environment variable
containing several values separated by spaces as individual arguments. A
new flag PARSE_OPT_WORD_EXPAND has been added to toggle this feature on
parse_line invocation. In case of an invalid syntax, a new error
PARSE_ERR_WRONG_EXPAND will be triggered.
This feature has been asked on the github issue #165.
We used to resort to a trick to detect whether the caller was a listener
or an outgoing socket in order never to present an AF_CUST_UDP* socket
to a log server nor a nameserver. This is no longer necessary, the socket
type alone will be enough.
By doing so we can remove the hard-coded mapping from AF_INET to AF_CUST_UDP
but we still need to keep the test on the listeners as long as these dummy
families remain present in the code.
Most callers of str2sa_range() need the protocol only to check that it
provides a ->connect() method. It used to be used to verify that it's a
stream protocol, but it might be a bit early to get rid of it. Let's keep
the test for now but move it to str2sa_range() when the new flag PA_O_CONNECT
is present. This way almost all call places could be cleaned from this.
There's a strange test in the server address parsing code that rechecks
the family from the socket which seems to be a duplicate of the previously
removed tests. It will have to be rechecked.
We'll need this so that it can return pointers to stacked protocol in
the future (for QUIC). In addition this removes a lot of tests for
protocol validity in the callers.
Some of them were checked further apart, or after a call to
str2listener() and they were simplified as well.
There's still a trick, we can fail to return a protocol in case the caller
accepts an fqdn for use later. This is what servers do and in this case it
is valid to return no protocol. A typical example is:
server foo localhost:1111
Now we only rely on dgram type associated with AF_INET/AF_INET6 to infer
UDP4/UDP6. We still keep the hint based on PA_O_SOCKET_FD to detect that
the caller is a listener though. It's still far from optimal but UDP
remains rooted into the protocols and needs to be taken out first.
For now only listeners can make use of AF_CUST_UDP and it requires hacks
in the DNS and logsrv code to remap it to AF_INET. Make str2sa_range()
smarter by detecting that it's called for a listener and only set these
protocol families for listeners. This way we can get rid of the hacks.
The parser now supports a socket type for the control layer and a possible
other one for the transport layer. Usually they are the same except for
protocols like QUIC which will provide a stream transport layer based on
a datagram control layer. The default types are preset based on the caller's
expectations, and may be refined using "stream+" and "dgram+" prefixes.
For now they were not added to the docuemntation because other changes
will probably happen around UDP as well. It is conceivable that "tcpv4@"
or "udpv6@" will appear later as aliases for "stream+ipv4" or "dgram+ipv6".
Just like for inherited sockets, we want to make sure that FDs that are
mentioned in "sockpair@" are actually usable. Right now this test is
performed by the callers, but not everywhere. Typically, the following
config will fail if fd #5 is not bound:

Now both will return an error in such a case:
- 'bind' : cannot use file descriptor '5' : Bad file descriptor.
- 'server s1' : cannot use file descriptor '6' : Bad file descriptor.
As such the test in str2listener() is not needed anymore (and it was
wrong by the way, as it used to test for the socket by overwriting the
local address with a new address that's made of the FD encoded on 16
bits and happens to still be at the same place, but that strictly
depends on whatever the kernel wants to put there).
When str2sa_range() is invoked for a bind or log line, and it gets a file
descriptor number, it will immediately resolve the socket's address (when
it's a socket) so that the address family, address and port are correctly
set. This will later allow to resolve some transport protocols that are
attached to existing FDs. For raw FDs (e.g. logs) and for socket pairs,
the FD number is still returned in the address, because we need the
underlying address management to complete the bind/listen/connect/whatever
needed. One immediate benefit is that passing a bad FD will now result in
one of these errors:
'bind' : cannot use file descriptor '3' : Socket operation on non-socket.
'bind' : socket on file descriptor '3' is of the wrong type.
Note that as of now, we never return a listening socket with a family of
AF_CUST_EXISTING_FD. The only case where this family is seen is for a raw
FD (e.g. logs).
If a file descriptor was passed, we can optionally return it. This will
be useful for listening sockets which are both a pre-bound FD and a ready
socket.
Now str2sa_range() will enforce the caller's port specification passed
using the PA_O_PORT_* flags, and will return an error on failure. For
optional ports, values 0-65535 will be enforced. For mandatory ports,
values 1-65535 are enforced. In case of ranges, it is also verified that
the upper bound is not lower than the lower bound, as this used to result
in empty listeners.
I couldn't find an easy way to test this using VTC since the purpose is
to trigger parse errors, so instead a test file is provided as
tests/ports.cfg with comments about what errors are expected for each
line.
We currently have an argument to require that the address is resolved
but we'll soon add more, so let's turn it into a bit field. The old
"resolve" boolean is now PA_O_RESOLVE.
The code is built to match prefixes at one place and to parse the address
as a second step, except for fd@ and sockpair@ where the test first passes
via AF_UNSPEC that is changed again. This is ugly and confusing, so let's
proceed like for the other ones.
At some places (log fd@XXX, bind fd@XXX) we support using an explicit
file descriptor number, that is placed into the sockaddr for later use.
The problem is that till now it was done with an AF_UNSPEC family, which
is also used for other situations like missing info or rings (for logs).
Let's create an "official" family AF_CUST_EXISTING_FD for this case so
that we are certain the FD can be found in the address when it is set.

Looking through the commit history, grepping for coccinelle shows that the same
replacement with a different patch was already performed in the past in commit
02779b6263.

haproxy fails to build with TARGET=generic and without extra options due
to auxv.h not being included, since the __GLIBC__ macro is not yet defined.
Let's include it after other libc headers so that the __GLIBC__ definition
is known. Thanks to David and Tim for the diag.

This patch introduce proto_udp.c targeting a further support of
log forwarding feature.
This code was originally produced by Frederic Lecaille working on
QUIC support and only minimal requirements for syslog support
have been merged.
NetBSD apparently uses macros for tolower/toupper and complains about
the use of char for array subscripts. Let's properly cast all of them
to unsigned char where they are used.
This is needed to fix issue #729.
Originally it was made to return a void* because some comparisons in the
code where it was used required a lot of casts. But now we don't need
that anymore. And having it non-const breaks the build on NetBSD 9 as
reported in issue #728.
So let's switch to const and adjust debug.c to accomodate this.
With the rework of the config line parser, we've started to emit a dump
of the initial line underlined by a caret character indicating the error
location. But with extremely large lines it starts to take time and can
even cause trouble to slow terminals (e.g. over ssh), and this becomes
useless. In addition, control characters could be dumped as-is which is
bad, especially when the input file is accidently wrong (an executable).
This patch adds a string sanitization function which isolates an area
around the error position in order to report only that area if the string
is too large. The limit was set to 80 characters, which will result in
roughly 40 chars around the error being reported only, prefixed and suffixed
with "..." as needed. In addition, non-printable characters in the line are
now replaced with '?' so as not to corrupt the terminal. This way invalid
variable names, unmatched quotes etc will be easier to spot.
A typical output is now:

parse_line() as added in commit c8d167bcf ("MINOR: tools: add a new
configurable line parse, parse_line()") presents an difficult usage
because it's up to the caller to determine the last written argument
based on what was passed to it. In practice the only way to safely
use it is for the caller to always pass nbarg-1 and make that last
entry point to the last arg + its strlen. This is annoying because
it makes it as painful to use as the infamous strncpy() while it has
all the information the caller needs.
This patch changes its behavior so that it guarantees that at least
one argument will point to the trailing zero at the end of the output
string, as long as there is at least one argument. The caller just
has to pass +1 to the arg count to make sure at least a last one is
empty.
This function takes on input a string to tokenize, an output storage
(which may be the same) and a number of options indicating how to handle
certain characters (single & double quote support, backslash support,
end of line on '#', environment variables etc). On output it will provide
a list of pointers to individual words after having possibly unescaped
some character sequences, handled quotes and resolved environment
variables, and it will also indicate a status made of:
- a list of failures (overlap between src/dst, wrong quote etc)
- the pointer to the first sequence in error
- the required output length (a-la snprintf()).
This allows a caller to freely unescape/unquote a string by using a
pre-allocated temporary buffer and expand it as necessary. It takes
extreme care at avoiding expensive operations and intentionally does
not use memmove() when removing escapes, hence the reason for the
different input and output buffers. The goal is to use it as the basis
for the config parser.
The set of files proto_udp.{c,h} were misleadingly named, as they do not
provide anything related to the UDP protocol but to datagram handling
instead, since currently all UDP processing is hard-coded where it's used
(dns, logs). They are to UDP what connection.{c,h} are to proto_tcp. This
was causing confusion about how to insert UDP socket management code,
so let's rename them right now to dgram.{c,h} which more accurately
matches what's inside since every function and type is already prefixed
with "dgram_".
This patch fixes all the leftovers from the include cleanup campaign. There
were not that many (~400 entries in ~150 files) but it was definitely worth
doing it as it revealed a few duplicates.
The type file was slightly tidied. The cli-specific APPCTX_CLI_ST1_* flag
definitions were moved to cli.h. The type file was adjusted to include
buf-t.h and not the huge buf.h. A few call places were fixed because they
did not need this include.
The TASK_IS_TASKLET() macro was moved to the proto file instead of the
type one. The proto part was a bit reordered to remove a number of ugly
forward declaration of static inline functions. About a tens of C and H
files had their dependency dropped since they were not using anything
from task.h.
global.h was one of the messiest files, it has accumulated tons of
implicit dependencies and declares many globals that make almost all
other file include it. It managed to silence a dependency loop between
server.h and proxy.h by being well placed to pre-define the required
structs, forcing struct proxy and struct server to be forward-declared
in a significant number of files.
It was split in to, one which is the global struct definition and the
few macros and flags, and the rest containing the functions prototypes.
The UNIX_MAX_PATH definition was moved to compat.h.
