We operated on 31-bits, but with e.g. lanczos scaling, values can
add up to beyond 0x80000000, thus leading to output of zeroes. Drop

Setting CMP=null uses stdout from the test as the diff record in
the report without further inspection. This can be useful when

This explicitly disables threading for encoding as slices are otherwise
